PURIM:  The Second Deliverance

Persian coin with the letters “YAHU” (Yod-Hay-Uau)

After Nebuchadnezzar took Yahudah captive (586 BCE), the Babylonians themselves were later conquered by the Persian empire. While Yahudah remained captive under this new reign, the Persian empire minted coins with the palaeo-Hebrew letters, "YAHU" on them (photo above). This is physical evidence of the Name, as well as an identification of Yahuah's people while in their captivity under the Persians, from the very time of Mordechai & Hadassah!

In case you didn’t know:  The scroll of “Esther” is not found in any of the cave jars called the Dead Sea Scrolls, because the Name “Yahuah” is not used, although it is found in the form of acronyms.  All the rest of the books of Scripture are there because the Name was used, since it was never allowed to be thrown-away in a profane way. The Dead Sea Scrolls only exist out of great respect for the Name. At “Esther” chapter 2 verse 7, we learn that Mordechai was not Hadassah’s uncle, but rather her cousin.

Although most of us don't get drunk or dress up at the time of "Purim", it is certainly a very real part of our "Hebrew Roots" and history, as Yahuah delivered His people for a second time (The first time was from Mitzrayim, of course). We may or may not perform any activities when "Purim" (meaning “lots” or “lottery”) comes around each year, but we should read the account of it and be thankful for this great deliverance of the Yahudim while in captivity among the nations.  The foreigners referred to their captives as “YAHU”, since they served Yahuah and were called by His Name.  One of the captives under the Babylonians and Persians was Daniel.  Notice the last sentence of a prayer as he mentions that Yahuah’s people are called by His Name, which the coin bears witness of:

Dan 9:19:  “O Yahuah, hear!  O Yahuah, forgive!, O Yahuah, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my Elohim, for Your city and Your people are called by Your Name.”

The captives were made up of the tribes of Yahudah and BenYamin, otherwise referred to in Scripture as the “house of Yahudah”.  The main characters involved in the record:  Hadassah (aka: “Esther”, her Persian name), Mordechai, and the evil Haman, who plotted genocide against the Yahudim throughout the Persian empire.  Today, the Persians (who have mixed remnants of the Yahudim that never returned to the land) have a government that is headed by a modern version of Haman, and given the power, would commit genocide against the nation, as Hitler attempted before him.

Where are all those who came against Yisrael, Yahuah’s beloved bride?  They’ve worn out like a garment!

“And many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek Yahuah of hosts in Yerushalayim, and to pray before Yahuah.

Thus said Yahuah of hosts, ‘In those days ten men from all languages of the nations take hold, yea, they shall take hold of the edge of the garment of a man, a Yahudi, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that Elohim is with you.’” Zec 8:22, 23

“Yahuah appeared to me from afar, saying, ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I shall draw you with kindness.

I am going to build you again. And you shall be rebuilt, O maiden of Yisrael! Again you shall take up your tambourines, and go forth in the dances of those who rejoice.’”  Jer/YirmeYahu 31:3, 4

All of this is Truth, which is reality.  All we must do is walk in reality, the Truth, and we will be free.
