WHEN DOES A DAY BEGIN - in the evening, or the morning?
The Quranic Day - Islam teaches the
dawn-to-dawn cycle:
“A Quranic day starts from dawn the same day and ends at dawn the following one. For instance, a Quranic Friday starts from Friday dawn and ends Saturday dawn.”
Act 27:27
"And when the fourteenth night came, as we
were driven up and down in the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the
sailors suspected that they were drawing near some land.
Act 27:33 And when day was about to come, Paul urged them all to take food, saying, 'Today is the fourteenth day you have continued without food, and eaten none at all.'"
Lev 23:27-32:
“On the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It shall be a set-apart gathering for you. And you shall afflict your beings, and shall bring an offering made by fire to Yahuah.
And you do no work on that same day, for it is the Day of Atonement, to make atonement for you before Yahuah your Alahim.
For any being who is not afflicted on that same day, he shall be cut off from his people.
And any being who does any work on that same day, that being I shall destroy from the midst of his people.
You do no work – a law forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
It is a Shabath of rest to you, and you shall afflict your beings.
On the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you observe your Shabath.”
This is the same kind of description given (above) for the way the 7 days of Matsah are observed.
CONCERNING WHEN A DAY BEGINS:
Does anyone know when people, all at once en masse, originated the idea that the day ended at sunset, and begins another? If the day starts in the morning as some are claiming now, when does it end, at sunset? What do we do with the other half of the time, ignore it? The question stands, how did people, like me, get the idea that the day ends at sunset, and another begins? And when you can explain that, how did the person that started this convince everyone else they were wrong, and succeed at it so well there is no whisper of the change ever occurring in all of human history?
NehemYah 13:19 clearly indicates the gates of the city were to be closed “as it began to be dark before the Shabath”:
Neh 13:15-21: “In those days I saw in Yahudah those treading wine presses on the Shabath, and bringing in sheaves, and loading donkeys with wine, grapes, and figs, and all kinds of burdens, which they brought into Yerushalayim on the Shabath day. So I warned them on the day they sold food.
And men of Tsor dwelt there, bringing in fish and all kinds of goods, and sold them on the Shabath to the children of Yahudah, and in Yerushalayim.
Then I contended with the nobles of Yahudah, and said to them, ‘What evil matter is this that you are doing, profaning the Shabath day?
Did not your fathers do the same so that our Alahim brought all this evil on us and on this city? Yet you bring added wrath on Yisharal by profaning the Shabath.’
And it came to be, at the gates of Yerushalayim, as it began to be dark before the Shabath, that I commanded the gates to be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened till after the Shabath.
We also take note of the haste to get Yahusha off the stake as the
“High Shabath” approached. Surely,
reading this, no one gets the impression the night had passed and
morning was about to dawn:
Joh 19:31: “Therefore,
since it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain
on the stake on the Shabath – for that Shabath was a high one – the
Yahudim asked Pilate to have their legs broken, and that they be
taken away.”
Verse 19:42 continues with this same idea.
The 14th day
of the moon was about to end, and the 15th, the
High Shabath of Matsah, was beginning at sunset.
They were in a rush, and the empty tomb was in a nearby garden, very close to where Yahusha had been impaled, so they made haste to take Yahusha down and get Him into the tomb. They would not have been in a serious hurry if they'd had all night, as they could have used torchlight very easily.
Let’s not spread guile, but rather seek the reuniting of the two
sticks,
and learn how to love one another without envy, strife, and
accepting false teachings.
Pro 14:15: “The
simple believes every word, but the clever one watches his step.”
WHAT IS THE LIGHT?
Creation Began In Darkness; Light Was Called Forth, Overcoming
It
Light was called
forth into
Creation during the 1st “day”. The sun did not exist until the
4th day.
The first two verses of Scripture describe the Creation of the
Heavens (space,
skies), the
Earth, the
deep,
and the
waters,
all being formed in
darkness.
Light was
spoken (called forth) into the formless chaos in the midst of
the 1st day.
Watch the development:
Gen 1:1,2: “In
the beginning Alahim created the heavens and the earth.
And the earth came to be formless and empty, and darkness was
on the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of Alahim was moving on the face of the waters.”
The format
of time took
shape the 1st day in
the act of separating Light from darkness.
You can follow this separation and its consequence in the
announcement proclaimed at the conclusion of the 1st day:
Gen 1:3-5: “And
Alahim said, ‘Let light come to be,’ and light came to be.
And Alahim saw the light, that it was good. And Alahim separated
the light from the darkness.
And Alahim called the light ‘day’ and the darkness He called
‘night.’
And there came to be evening (EREB) and
there came to be morning (BOQER),
the first day (YOM).”
Darkness is overcome and dispelled by the Light.
This Light is not the sun’s light, but rather is a special part
of the Creation spoken (called forth) into existence by the
Spirit of Yahuah to
serve His purposes throughout all time. The
Light is “the Word”, the creative
power that gives
life to men. This “Force” infused
life into
Creation, and the one possessing the
Light has
received the most precious commodity in all Creation.
For the past several thousand years, the daily-cycle has
been evening-to-evening,
but since the Dayspring article
(circe 1993 CE), a new view has been growing whereby daybreak is
believed to be the beginning of the daily-cycle.
There is no record in the last 2,000 years of any
change being recognized that the daily-cycle ever
altered from its pattern.
Since the Dayspring article
was written, some to hold to a 12-hour difference in their day,
connecting it with the next day as a result. The daily-cycle of
Dark-Light has skewed to Light-Dark. The evening-morning
cycle has
shifted to the morning-evening
cycle for
the Dayspringers,
and we may never reconcile this change until Yahusha returns to
show us which is correct. What matters most? The goal is to
overcome our differences of opinion, and yet love
one another without
condemnation of one another. Each camp firmly believes it is
correct, yet the views are at odds with one another.
The one that is correct may not be the “winner” if they do not
accept the other, because
this test is not about
knowledge, but love.
We must accept those with different views, and love them in
spite of differences. One camp serves Yahuah and walks with aDay-Night
cycle,
while the other camp walks before Yahuah with a Night-Day
cycle.
Yahusha can make both stand if our conscience does not condemn
us, and if we love one another.
Darkness is hatred, evil, and absence of Light. Light is love,
goodness, life, and the Word - in Whom dwells the life of all
mankind.
1Jn 2:7-11: “Beloved,
I write no fresh command to you, but an old command which you
have had from
the beginning.
The old command is the Word which you heard from
the beginning.
Again I write you a fresh command, which is true in Him and in
you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true Light
now shines.
The one who says he is in the Light, and hates his brother, is
in the darkness until now.
The one who
loves his brother stays in the Light, and
there is no stumbling-block in him.
But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks
in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because
the darkness has blinded his eyes.”
The Light is Yahuah Himself, folding Himself into His Creation,
so that He may be all-in-all. He is love.
The rich man who would not help Lazarus did not possess the
Light, but only darkness, because he did not have love for his
brother.
When the Light is in you, it
possesses you and
love flows from you into others, and they thrive on the life it
brings to them,
molding
their inner spirit into alignment
with Yahuah’s Mind. It is encouraging, uplifting, and fills your
vessel to overflowing.
Among us walk those who are vessels
of Light, and vessels
of darkness. May we who are possessed by the
Light be used to bring the Light to those whose lamp (inner
being, heart) need the oil necessary to sustain them. Oil is
a Hebrew term sometimes used to refer to Light.
Become children of Light:
Eph 5:8-10: “For
you were once darkness,
but now
you are light in
the Master. Walk
as children of light –
for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, and
righteousness, and truth – proving what is well-pleasing to the
Master.”
Pro 6:22-24: “When
you are walking about, it leads you; When you lie down, it
guards you. And when you have woken up, It talks to you.
For the command is a lamp, And the Torah
a light, And
reproofs of discipline a way
of life,
To guard you against an evil woman, From the flattering tongue
of a strange woman.”
